About Us S & G’s Magic Mushroom
What Are Magic Mushrooms?
Magic mushrooms, also known as psilocybin mushrooms, are naturally occurring fungi consumed for their hallucinogenic effects. As a psychedelic drug, they impact all the senses, altering thinking, perception of time, and emotions. Users often experience hallucinations, where sights or sounds appear distorted or fabricated. Psilocybin, the main component in magic mushrooms, converts to psilocin in the body, producing psychoactive effects.
Appearance of Magic Mushrooms
Magic mushrooms resemble ordinary mushrooms, but with a variety of types. In Australia, the most common types are golden tops, blue meanies, and liberty caps. It’s important to note that they look similar to some poisonous mushrooms, which can lead to severe illness or death if consumed by mistake. Dried mushrooms may also be found in capsules, and synthetic psilocybin can appear as a white crystalline powder, which is sometimes processed into tablets or dissolved in water.
Alternative Names and Types
Magic mushrooms are often referred to as “shrooms,” “mushies,” “blue meanies,” “golden tops,” or “liberty caps.” Other psychedelics include 2C-B, ayahuasca, DMT, LSD, mescaline, NBOMes, and salvia.
Methods of Consumption
People consume magic mushrooms fresh, cooked, or brewed as tea. Dried mushrooms are sometimes smoked, often mixed with cannabis or tobacco.
Effects and Risks
The effects of magic mushrooms vary widely. Factors like size, weight, health, and experience, as well as the environment and any other drugs taken, influence each individual’s response. Generally, effects begin within 30 minutes of eating mushrooms or within 5–10 minutes when taken as tea, lasting four to six hours. Users may experience euphoria, mood changes, dilated pupils, visual and auditory hallucinations, nausea, and irregular heartbeat.
Overdose and Bad Trips
Though life-threatening symptoms are rare, a large amount or strong batch may cause agitation, vomiting, muscle weakness, paranoia, and, in severe cases, seizures or coma. Bad trips may involve intense hallucinations, anxiety, paranoia, and panic, potentially creating a frightening experience.
Post-Use Effects
After effects include delayed headaches, exhaustion, depression, and anxiety. Regular users may experience flashbacks, often involving visual distortions and emotional changes. These flashbacks, lasting a minute or two, may be triggered by stress, fatigue, or other drug use and can occur weeks, months, or even years later.
Influence of Mood and Environment
A user’s mental state (set) and environment (setting) strongly influence their experience. Stress or anxiety before use may result in a bad trip, while a calm, familiar environment typically enhances positive effects. Surrounding oneself with trusted friends in a safe, peaceful environment can help prevent adverse experiences.
Combining Magic Mushrooms with Other Substances
Mixing magic mushrooms with other drugs, including over-the-counter or prescription medications, can be dangerous. Combining mushrooms with stimulants like ice, speed, or ecstasy raises the risk of a bad trip, while individuals on psychiatric medications may face worsened symptoms.
